Whenever I talk to one of my aunts about money and wealth, she always tells me that her only shot at getting millions and leaving the life she once led is through winning the lottery. I really can't blame her. When you have already spent a few decades of your life meeting misfortunes year after year, it's difficult not to act desperate at times and wish that you will win the lottery.

She isn't alone, of course. Any person who has already heard of the lottery may have dreamed of winning it at least one point in his/her life. Why would you put a bet anyway when you don't even dream of winning those megamillions. But when you have come to think about the odds of winning the lottery, you will probably realize that you are better off working hard in order to get the wealth that you want.

The chances of winning the lottery depend on the location where you will play and the rules of the game. In where I live, the odds of winning the lottery is 1 to about 20 million. This is an awfully small chance and yet we still see a lot of people betting multiple tickets at once, thinking that they will significantly improve their chances. Well yeah, by buying an additional ticket you can improve your chances from 1 to 20 million, to 2 to 20 million. Fat chance.

When people start thinking that the lottery is their only chance of striking it rich, sometimes I can't help but shake my head in disappointment. How a lot of us have already succumbed to guesswork in order to acquire wealth is something that I cannot fully understand. It's probably because of the harsh realities that we have to face, which turns s into desperate beings thirsty for wealth and glory.

No amount of divination or guesswork will make you know the winning lottery numbers in advance. The lottery is purely random and only the luckiest of people will only win. For better and more reliable results, rely on yourself instead.
