What You Have to Know About Psychic Healers

So you've probably read in a previous post about Edgar Cayce, a touch healer who has touched a lot of lives, literally speaking, by supposedly healing their illnesses and giving them a new lease on life. At first glance, this sounds like a very rare miraculous healer. Or maybe not, because I've seen a lot of them, living in a country where people are still heavily superstitious despite the supposed modernity.

What we have here is a psychic healer, who is supposed to be blessed with psychic powers that he is using to cure the sick and save the dying. I won't go as far as declaring anyone a hoax because I don't know any of these people personally. But let me tell you a little about what I know about these psychic healers.

Most of the time, they are just sham healers. No, I am not saying that they are aware of it, but sometimes they get overwhelmed by their supposed abilities and actually believing that they have the capacity to heal others. But some people are really sham and deceitful, asking for "donations" from people who are poor and uneducated enough to put their entire trust in these people instead of those who are medically trained.

In effect, what happens is a placebo effect wherein the people believe so much about these healers that the little sickness that they have are actually cured by believing that they are cured. The same cannot be said about very serious diseases, something that frightens me at times because I know that these people should be consulting a doctor instead of any of these healers. Call it Western arrogance, but there's just nothing out there to support this kind of theory.

But there are just really times when miraculously, diseases seem to be healed off completely. These are certain cases that just cannot be explained by science. This is where the mystery begins. Are these psychic healers responsible?
