Solar Storm in 2012?

I think the 2012 doomsday predictors are giggling right now, after NASA told us that a massive solar storm is expected to hit the planet on, of all years, 2012. The solar storm, which is estimated to be stronger than the force of 100 million hydrogen bombs, is expected to be much stronger than the lights show we've seen early last month.

These kinds of solar maxima are not really new, but they seem to get stronger each of the time. This solar storm expected to brew in 2012 (or maybe early 2013) is seen to be stronger than the storms of 1859 and 1921, during which they both disrupted telegraph wires and other communication means. It's not difficult to imagine a similar scenario by 2012. Experts are looking at the possibility of disrupting air travel, communication systems, and GPS systems.

It is also not surprising if several satellites get knocked out in the process, similar to what happened to a lot of satellites last month, causing disruptions in telecommunications grid. Nobody is really sure about the possible effects of the upcoming solar storm--well, maybe except for the 2012 doomsday predictors who continue to think that the year will bring us the end of the world. All of these news comes in as the sun is entering a phase called Solar Cycle 24.

In truth, nobody can really say what will happen in the future. If there was anyone who can do that, then people would probably not die at all. Yes, that includes those doomsday predictors who seem to know nothing about this news except the fact that the effect can be drastic. I guess we all just have to find out what the case is in the coming years. Once everything is done after that year ends, I hope all those nonsense end-of-the-world predictions could finally end.
